Personally, I can't stand when someone uses the word "orientated." I don't care what the online dictionaries indicate, the correct word is "oriented." You orient, then you are oriented. You are not orientated!
What's your literary pet peeve?

cuss words.. I feel they have no place in poetry and they are like a "bastard step-child" in literature.. I hated past open microphones I would go too and someone would use every cuss word they know (and for what?) I believe I have used the word "damn" maybe twice in my writings but nothing beyond that.. even in my few examples of mature poetry.

I ran acrost that one last night, ph. Playing an MMORPG online against teenagers. *sigh* They are also fond of using "dose" instead of "does" and "are" instead of "our." "Are alliance is strong. Dose anyone know how to . . ." At which point I just switched off.

Got to admit. Spelling these days is horrible and often embarrassing. As for swearing, I TOTALLY agree. To me people swear because they don't have enough vocabulary to think of other words to define their feelings. I think it shows a lack of respect for other people, especially people you may not know personally, therefore you don't know how offensive it is to them. Show respect and regard for others and eliminate the need to use swear words in writing.

The lack of proper grammar these days, verbal and written. I listen to kids speak and no one bothers to correct them anymore. I don't know if it's because the adults themselves don't know the correct way of saying things or if they just don't care. I think it's a strong case of both. People have become lazy, and it's making a bad impact. I, for one, do judge a person's intellect on how they present themselves grammatically. I know we shouldn't judge a book by it's cover but it's a hard habit to quit. I'll jump off of my high horse now, heh. I know I'm not perfect at grammar a lot of the time, I just wish it would be emphasized more in teaching.

Okay, I did not spell 'grammar' 'grammarch'. I keep trying to fix it but the system keeps changing it. What I get for being so opinionated.

I'm laughing here you guys. I thought the same thing palehorse. Chels, I consider myself well educated, but I have to admit saying to myself "OMG, what the heck is grammarch....?" Then I rushed to the dictionary to look it up. Hahahaha. Computers have a way of making us not only feel stupid but look the same way sometimes, don't they? Thanks for the chuckle.Don't you just hate autocorrect? I do!
